One-Day Interaction on Compulsory and Free Education Act
CAED organized a one-day interaction with federal, provincial, and local government representatives and civil society on the implementation of the Compulsory and Free Education Act 2018 and its Regulation 2020. The program highlighted that only 7.13% of the budget is allocated to education in Karnali Province, and participants emphasized the need to increase it to at least 20% for effective implementation.
Discussions focused on better coordination among all three levels of government, clear planning, and strong implementation mechanisms. It was also noted that from April 14, 2026 (Baisakh 1, 2083), individuals without basic education may not be eligible for certain government and non-government services.
The program concluded that public–private partnership and joint efforts are essential to ensure compulsory and free education for all.
